Old masters rewarded observant art critics by hiding things in their paintings, such as discreet self-portraits and lewd caricatures of the queen. Send your own artful message with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $35 for a basic hands-on screenprinting class for one (an $80 value)
  • $65 for a basic hands-on screenprinting class for two (a $160 value)
  • $95 for a basic hands-on screenprinting class for four (a $320 value)

In each three-hour, BYOB-friendly session, professional screenprint production artist Peter McGouran guides four to six students in emblazoning a T-shirt (brought from home or purchased in advance through the studio) with a single-color image of their choice. Students submit images up to 10"x12" ahead of time so that the instructor can prepare a screen. As they practice making crisp, clear images, pupils learn how to choose films, inks, and squeegees and even how to set up their own screenprinting equipment at home. Classes are held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Click here for a full list of dates.

Polluted Eyeball

Artist Peter McGouran opened his screenprinting studio and school to fulfill his passion for creating 2-D images layered with emotion, nuance, and color unattainable by computers. Featured on BushwickBK, the artist has worked with Alternative Apparel, American Apparel, Fruit of the Loom, and Hanes to emblazon fashion with artful images and exuberant hues. The pro teaches workshops for learners from beginner to advanced, infusing them with an enthusiasm for the eclectic art form via increasingly complex lessons, hands-on art projects, and freeze-frame group high-fives at the end of every class.

  • Great screenprinting class. I knew nothing about it going in, and now feel like I have a good understanding of the basics.
