A franchise gym with an emphasis on physical appearance and branding helps guests to get fit with cardio machines, weight-training equipment, and group fitness classes.

Powerhouse Gym

Nearly 40 years ago in Highland Park, Michigan, the brothers Dabish transformed their shared vision for a fitness club into a temple to all things muscular. Today, Powerhouse Gym and its instantly recognizable logo of a herculean man eating pancakes in an unorthodox way sprawl across 39 states and 17 countries. In the interim, well-known physiques such as those belonging to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cameron Diaz, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have used the gym for its fitness routines and its all-encompassing roster of exercise essentials.

The whirring of treadmills and the clanging of weightlifting gear resound beneath the gyms’ ceilings as exercisers slim silhouettes on robust fleets of cardio machines. In addition to solo workout stations, the 300 gym locations staff certified trainers who pilot group classes, such as spirited Zumba and spinning, and personal-training sessions that chisel muscles and burn fat. Some Powerhouse Gym locations further bolster workouts with onsite massages, custom training and nutrition plans, free WiFi, and words of encouragement whispered exclusively in sonnets.

Powerhouse Gym

What began in 1975 as one inner-city gym in Highland Park, Michigan, has since evolved into a global health-club organization with locations in 17 different countries. Powerhouse Gym equips weightlifters and cardio bunnies alike with all they’ll ever need to keep—or create—a tight and toned physique. The gym offers equipment outfitted with personal TVs as well as a cast of certified and knowledgeable personal trainers. Depending on location, members will also have access to group fitness classes, such as yoga, Zumba, and Les Mills BodyPump, as well as 24-7 turnkey access to the facility.
