$99 for $300 Worth of Custom Window Treatments

Technicians make house calls to measure windows and talk clients through fabric and materials samples. About a week and a half later, the techs return to fit windows up to 37"x60" with solar shades ($150), blackout shades ($175), honeycomb shades ($175), and wooden blinds ($199). Motorized shades start at $700. Extra charges apply for larger windows.

Prestigious Blinds

The technicians at Prestigious Blinds don't treat the sun like an enemy, despite the fact that it can fade upholstery and add unwanted heat to homes and offices. Instead, they use custom residential and commercial window treatments to "redefine the light" in each space, filtering sunbeams through opaque and sheer drapery, wooden blinds, or bamboo shades. During home visits, the techs lay out fabric samples and discuss customization options, such as printing a company logo, a child's favorite cartoon character, or a passive-aggressive note about a neighbor's lawn onto blinds.

The Groupon Guide to: Home-Improvements Projects

Doing their own home-improvement projects can be a big source of pride for a homeowner, giving them something to show off to guests and cable television shows where they interview people about their houses. Here are some projects you can work on at your house:

  • Use a sledgehammer to demolish your deck so your dog will stop falling off the edge of it.

  • Pour concrete over your whole backyard to make it a better place to roller-skate.

  • Install a sink right in front of your toilet so you can use the bathroom and wash your hands at the same time.

  • Take rough, unpolished logs from a nearby forest and use them to make a cool-looking uneven floor for your bedroom.

  • Paint all of the doors in your house green so people know you’re fun.

What’s behind this funky door? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
