In a Nutshell

Licensed therapists use hands, elbows, or feet to relieve tension during traditional and specialty massages

The Fine Print

Lying quietly face-down on a table is a crucial step toward getting a massage or ruining a dinner party. Back up with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $35 for a 60-minute Swedish or deep-tissue massage (up to a $70 value)
  • $42 for a 60-minute specialty massage (up to an $85 value)
  • $75 for a 60-minute couples massage (up to a $150 value)

Specialty massages include Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, Hawaiian lomi-lomi, Ashi-Thai, and reflexology. Choose any traditional or specialty massage for the couples massage.

Prolong Symmetry

In 2004, Rhonda Larkins underwent a lumbar laminectomy to fix a herniated disc, an injury she obtained while working as a package handler. Even after the surgery, she was left with pain and a lingering numbness in her left leg. Though physical therapy helped, she noticed that she felt particularly good after getting a massage. This observation led her to study Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy—a type of massage in which the practitioner uses bare feet to deliver flowing, effleurage strokes—under the practice’s founder, Ruthie Piper Hardee. Rhonda is currently on the mastery level of this modality.

At Prolong Symmetry, Rhonda and her team of licensed massage therapists specialize in more than 10 types of massage. Services range from more traditional Swedish and deep-tissue massages to Hawaiian lomi-lomi, an ancient healing practice during which therapists stimulate the body’s pressure points with their thumbs, elbows, and thoughts on early Dada filmmaking.

The Groupon Guide to: Cute vs. Creepy

Cute and creepy are two sides of the same coin, both exploiting vulnerability or out-of-the-norm behavior in order to elicit an instinctive response. In our stimulus-overload world, it can be difficult at times to tell the two apart—at least, without consulting this foolproof guide:

  • Blind date bringing you a brightly colored wildflower: cute
  • Blind date bringing you a brightly colored wild cockatiel: creepy

  • Father saying goodbye to his daughter after dropping her off at school: cute

  • Father saying goodbye to his daughter after serving her scrambled eggs: creepy

  • Animal with eyes exactly the size of a quarter: cute

  • Animal with eyes slightly larger than a quarter: creepy

  • Six-year-old niece taking your picture: cute

  • Six-year-old niece scratching your eyes out of the picture: super cute

Why do so many children scratch the eyes out of family photographs?
