“Purusha” in Sanskrit means “true self”, which is fitting since Purusha Yoga is dedicated to creating a studio where all people can come as their true self, without feeling pressure to improve. This community-oriented studio has certified and dedicated instructors, who go out of their way to make classes welcoming to yogis of all levels. Practitioners can flow through an energizing Vinyasa session in a spacious and sunlit room, or rejuvenate during a slow-moving Yin yoga session, with a focus on deep breathing and long-held poses. Purusha also offers teacher training for those looking to get certified, as well as constantly changing events and workshops, covering everything from dance parties to thai yoga bodywork certification.
Studio owner Joy Ravelli began the Purusha Yoga School in 2004, and has sense founded the non-profit Seva Project, which offers yoga programs to underserved populations, and written a practical guide to the yoga sutras. A business owner and fitness instructor since the age of 20, Joy is a certified personal trainer, Pilates instructor, RYT 500 yoga instructor, and Thai yoga bodywork practitioner.

“The hot yoga class is not very hot, but otherwise the studio is very nice.”
