Red River Ski Area

The National Post argues that the “true highlight” of the Red River Ski Area is the old mining town it’s situated in: “No matter where you are on the main strip,” the review says, “you’re never more than 1,200 ft away from a ski lift.” The ski area pays tribute to the town’s heritage with a replica of a gold mining camp that you can glide through during your descent down the mountain. Red River’s three terrain parks and 57 trails of varying difficulty slice through the Carson National Forest, a peaceful spot located in the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Nonskiers can enjoy the view from a Snow Coach ride up the mountain as they chow down on dinner inside.
