Artistic expression can take the form of a vibrant painting, a decapitated sculpture, or front-yard hedges trimmed into the shape of longing. Let creativity blossom with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $99 for four 90-minute group painting or drawing workshops (a $400 value)
  • $199 for four 60-minute private art or tech workshops for one person (a $400 value)
  • $349 for four 90-minute private art or tech workshops for two people (an $800 value)

Unique workshops taught by working professionals are tailored to the student. Together teacher and student will build a curriculum. Art workshops can combine drawing, painting (oils and acrylics), cartooning, animation, and storyboarding. Tech workshops can combine web design, web development, application development, video editing, animation, and DJing. Ninety-minute group workshops are held Saturdays from 3:30 p.m.–5 p.m. Private sessions are scheduled by appointment.

Renaissance Studio

Renaissance Studio proprietor and artist-in-residence Michael Straub produces commissioned works of art, showcases a roster of artists throughout the year, and teaches drawing, web design, app development, and cartooning classes for kids and adults. Over his career Straub has mastered a number of painting styles including trompe l’oeil (photorealism) and what he calls Lemurian style, his own blend of Japanese prints and medieval stained glass. In addition, he has been a professional DJ in New York City and heads a production studio that develops interactive applications, two endeavors that inform his web and DJ classes.
