At the International Drum and Percussion Expo, more than 100 exhibitors set up to display the latest in percussion technology, instruments, and educational materials. Throughout the weekend, visitors can test out instruments such as cymbals, timpanis, and marimbas, meet with the artists on hand to sign autographs, and speak with innovative manufacturers about their drum sets’ newest ways to annoy parents. This year’s Expo coincides with the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), featuring clinics and performances by artists including Steve Gadd, Mike Mangini, and Austin's own Todd Sucherman. Performances and clinics are not included in this Groupon. This deal is valid for expo admission on any one day, each of which runs 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Percussive Arts Society

More than 50 years old and 8,500 members strong, the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) strives to promote percussion through education, research, and performances across the world. To carry out this mission, the organization includes more than 50 chapters in the US and 28 chapters abroad, all of which communicate online via resources such as lessons, free practice exercises, and annual events. Each year PAS hosts the annual Percussive Arts Society International Convention—the largest of its kind in the world—in which exhibitors convene to showcase the newest developments in percussion technology, instruments, and publications. The convention also includes over 120 clinics and performances with lauded artists covering all genres and styles of music.

The Groupon Guide to: Living Alone

Not everyone lives with a boyfriend or girlfriend or in a field where a group of gentle horses shows up every night and lets you pet them until morning. If you are someone who lives alone, make yourself feel less alone with these tips:

  • Break up the uncomfortable silence by leaving the TV on all day, or, if you love Earth, just constantly yelling.
  • It's hard to fall asleep alone, so build a "sleeping buddy" out of materials that are both comfortable enough to hug and durable enough to withstand your razor-sharp teeth.
  • Invite friends over for dinner. If you’re funny, dressed nicely, and figure out how to avoid having that smell happen, they'll probably ask you to marry them. Right?
  • Rent a baby from one of those rent-a-baby businesses. Not only is it cheap, but that baby won't be able to walk out on you until it's much, much older.
  • Whenever the loneliness feels unbearable, just remember you're not alone—there are hundreds of prisoners living just like you.

Which materials are durable against razor-sharp teeth?
