The monopoly tycoons of the 19th century traditionally did their wheeling and dealing at fine dining establishments, cleverly concealing the fact that they still lived with their parents. Cloak taste buds in choice cuisine with today's deal: for $25, you get $50 worth of fine fare and drinks at Rimrock Café in Whistler. This deal is good for all items on the a la carte menu.

The Rimrock Café is powered by the palate-pleasing prowess of chef and owner Rolf Gunther, whose transcontinental training informs a menu rich with fresh seafood and tender game. Embark on epicurean escapades with the chilled prawn cocktail, accented with accompaniments of avocado, tomato salsa and horseradish crème fraiche, or begin with a sautéed wild mushroom salad that wears a diaphanous gown of sesame vinaigrette upon its leafy luxuriance (all first course options are $13). Second course options (all $18) include the buffalo mozzarella, served with heirloom tomatoes, basil and olives, reminding diners why the delicate cheese was hunted nearly to extinction, while the papardelle pasta, emblazoned with a light lobster, goat cheese and cherry tomato sauce, carries a power-to-weight ratio that's the envy of heavyweight boxers and competitive light bulbs. For the main course ($34), diners can choose the five-ounce filet mignon, or stray from the beaten path with the porcini mushroom encrusted caribou (add $12), chaperoned by a tongue-tingling mélange of truffle butter, spatzle, and porcini cream.

Rimrock's overflowing trophy case includes a citation from Wine Spectator, and their climate-controlled cellars, home to more than 320 labels, affirm the primacy of their selection. The soft caramel light of two fireplaces bounces across lustrous tables of oak, suffusing the establishment with a mountain lodge glow that's both the crux of comfort and the essence of elegance, like a onesie stitched from rose petals. Today's deal allows you to redeem one Groupon for every two people at the table, making it a perfect escape for double dates or barbershop quartets.

  • The “fantastic” Pacific Northwest fare and seafood is so “beautifully prepared” at this “pretty”, pricey Whistler creekside “old-time favourite” that dishes like the “exceptional caribou” seduce even those who “don’t normally like game” – Zagat
  • Temperatures may be chilly at Whistler, but the European-style welcome at the Rimrock Café is always warm. – Gayot
