$149 for a Brazilian Blowout ($300 Value)

Brazilian Blowout products smooth frizz and curls, rendering hair straight and shiny for up to 12 weeks. During the procedure—which can take up to three hours, depending on the texture and length of a client’s hair—the Acai Brazilian Super Nutrient Complex teams up with a polymer system to tag-team unmanageable locks, binding them in a protective protein layer. This layer not only makes hair more docile, but also boosts its shine and protects it from environmental assailants, such as excessive sunshine, pollutants, and Mother Nature’s flying monkeys. Clients have the option to leave some curl in, or blow-dry their headscape smooth and straight. After the treatment, stylists rinse the hair, towel-dry it, and apply a mask and smoothing serum to seal the product into the hair and help detangle locks. One last blow-dry straightens the hair out once more before a styling finale.

Some hair-straightening products that claim to be formaldehyde-free include aldehyde compounds, which are similar to the carcinogen formaldehyde. Side effects may include nosebleeds, headaches, vomiting, and respiratory problems, among others. Learn more about the health risks here.

Robert Jeffery Salon

In 1987, after just three years of shearing locks, Robert Jeffery Williamson earned an invitation that would shape the course of his career. After competing with more than 300 eager stylists, he was one of 14 picked to study under dramatic hair artists Irvine and Rita Rusk in Scotland. After this training, Jeff returned to tour the United States, where he shared the latest styling techniques at hair shows, became a Rusk Senior Master Designer, and still found time to open his eponymous salon. Today, Jeff has hung up his traveling shoes in order to devote his time to that salon and the skills of the stylists within. His stylists carry on the lessons of his past, employing Rusk products as they snip and color tresses. Yet Jeff continues learning and evolving, and his recent training with Screen Hair Care inspired him to expand the salon’s arsenal with Screen products.

The studio space itself draws on the themes of stardom. Director-style chairs let guests await their appointment in style, and paintings of moviemakers and jazz musicians lend color and inspiration. While there, clients can also visit cosmetics professionals who help them custom-blend their own shades of lipstick, eyeliner, and nail polish so they can match an evening gown or the bush from which they spy on their neighbors.

The Groupon Guide to: Collectible Trinkets

No mantel, shadow box, or garbage bag in the attic is complete without a display of valuable collectibles, appreciating exponentially with each passing year. You may already be a millionaire if you collect any of the following:

Beanie Babies: These limp, boneless animals are a college tuition waiting to happen.
Most Valuable Beanie Baby: Lillehammer, the ’94 Winter Games herring

PEZ Dispensers: It turns out these valuable treat scepters are more than just miniature tracheotomy patients that dispense a candy tasting of equal parts chalk and soap.
Most Valuable PEZ Dispenser: Rare Darth Vader with Kermit the Frog’s eyes affixed to the top of his helmet as a result of factory error

Hot Wheels: Small? Sure. Cars? Definitely. These small cars look just like regular cars—but smaller.
Most Valuable Hot Wheels Car: The 1981 Pioneer Ferrari 308 GTB—shrunk from a full-size car using experimental technology—that contains a now-tiny Vice President Mondale who was just sitting behind the wheel for a second to take a photo

What valuable toys are currently rotting in your attic?
