Music and drinks have long been enjoyed together, from turn-of-the-century gentlemen sipping scotch around the Victrola to modern gentlemen sipping scotch around the Victrola in a 3-D holographic recreation chamber. Some things never change with this Groupon.

The Rock 'n Roll Cocktail Party takes place Thursday, August 22 from 7 p.m–10 p.m at the Hyde Bellagio Nightclub. The event serves each attendee an intoxicating mix of live music and unlimited cocktail samples. 15 of the city's top mixologists show off their skills and hand out drinks. Each attendee then awards three voting cards to their favorite mixologists, who compete for a $2,000 prize. Meanwhile, The Peter Love Band fills the upscale venue with live rock n' roll. Attendees should dress appropriately for a cocktail party or a nightclub event. Additional drinks and food will be available for purchase.
The view from the Hyde Bellagio Nightclub is truly breathtaking. The neon-lit club's interior transitions seamlessly onto an outdoor patio that overlooks the famed Bellagio Fountains, which shoot upwards to frame Las Vegas Boulevard's casinos and hotels. On this evening, however, most eyes point inside, where Las Vegas' top mixologists assemble their artillery of Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Bacardi, and other potables for an intense battle of sips. As they shake and stir a melange of spirits and other ingredients, the mixologists almost seem to move in time to the evening's live rock music. They aren't dancing, though. High stakes guide each movement, as the next drink they pour could win them a prize of several thousand dollars—not to mention the distinction of being crowned champion of the Rock 'n Roll Cocktail Party, Cocktail City's flagship event.
This party isn't just for the competitors, though. The competition pays great dividends to attending guests; mixologists gladly hand out unlimited samples of their best cocktail creations in hopes of winning enough of the partygoers' voter cards to finally level out their wobbly coffee tables. Fortunately, this isn't the only event to come and watch these alchemists do their thing. On other nights of the year, these top mixologists also come together for The Cocktail City Throwdown and compete in team competitions.
