Questions and Answers
Hey Eileen,
The groupon offer does not apply to fees on the website, as it is its own offer. I hope that I answered your question. You do not necessarily have to have a partner to climb. You can boulder or traverse, which is climbing low to the ground, so hence no rope and no partner. Also, you can usually find a partner during the busier times to belay you. Hope to see you here.
When does the 1 month start? After the first class or the third class? The description reads: “Your first class … Your next two classes … Then you’ll be set free for one month of unlimited climbing.” So I read it that your month doesn’t begin until after the 3rd class.
Second Question, on your website it says that if you buy the 3 classes you get $40 towards an annual membership, is that still the case with the Groupon?
How does the June 17 expiration date work? Do I need to go to my FIRST class by June 17, or do I need to go to all three classes and complete my free month by June 17?
Hi! We have been wanting to start rock climbing as a family and have even visited the CM facility. My question is could I buy more than one pass (one for me and my husband)? What about children? Can they use these too? My kids are 9 and 7.
Cynthia,
You can buy one for you and your husband. The kids are too young to belay from an insurance standpoint, but they can come with you once you have completed your belay class and climb. Also, they can do the side deal and come to the Summer Reach Camp.

Dave – (1) The month starts the day after your Belay class (which is the first of the 3 classes). (2) No, the deal on their website does not apply with the Groupon feature.
Jeffery – You simply need to start your month prior to June 17. (As noted before your month starts the day after your first class.)
Cynthia – Yes, you can purchase one for both you and your husband, but unfortunately your children are too young for this package. That being said todays side deal (http://www.groupon.com/deals/rockreation) is rock climbing camps for children their age.
I hope this helps!
Alexandria – Then you need to reword the description. It is very specific that it says that the month starts after the two climbing technique classes. It should say
Your first class will train you in belaying, in which you’ll use your own body as a counterweight and safety anchor for you climbing partner. Then you’ll be set free for one month of unlimited climbing. During this time, your next two classes will center around building the basic techniques of rock climbing, especially the function of each piece of safety equipment. You’ll learn how to pick your route and use all the little muscles you didn’t know you had to wriggle your way to the top.

Dave – I apologize for the confusion, but the unlimited month starts the day after your first class (which is the Belay class).

LOVE this deal!!! I’ve been eyeing Rockreation for awhile, now I have no excuse not to start climbing. Love it!!
alexandra, do we have to pay each time for shoe rentals or can we wear our normal shoes?

Facebook User – Shoe rentals are included in the package.
So its $45 for the gravity series package right? and are there any startup fees or any other additional fees that you would have to pay when you get there? Also, im a little confused with the classes included in the package… are they classes to just teach you how to climb or do you get to experience the whole rock climbing with your partner? or do you have to come back within that month to do the rock climbing?? Also, one more question can all of these classes be done in a day?
thank you

Facebook User – No, there are no additional fees (equipment is included with the Groupon). There are 3 classes included in the package the first one (the Belay class) is a safety class and the second and third are technique classes. The classes are meant to be taken on different days and ideally about a week about. This would allow you to practice what you are taught in each one, so that you can build on that knowledge in the next class.
when do these gravity series classes usually take place? day/night/weekends? thanks!

Hi Amy – They are private classes that you set up based on your schedule.
Do you need to have a partner for the classes or do the instructors belay you during classes?

Amy – I was incorrect before, the classes are held at specific times. Here is when they take place:
Fight Gravity 1 – Tuesdays @ 7-9 pm, Saturday and Sunday @ 12-2
Fight Gravity 2 – Wednesdays @ 7-9, Saturdays @ 10am -12pm
Fight Gravity 3 – Thursdays 7-9 pm, and Sundays @ 10am -12pm
This classes are offered every week. Rockreation is looking to add additional classes to their schedule (but they do not have a specific dates and times yet).
Samantha – You will be paired with people from the class.
If I already know how to climb and belay, are we still required to take the classes?

Eric – It is not required for you to take the classes. That being said I have spoke with Rockreation and they have informed me that the two technique classes are beneficial for people at all skill levels.
Hi Alexandra – any info on the logistics for actually presenting the Groupon and taking classes? Do we book the classes in advance and are Groupon holders assured spots for all 3 classes before the June 17 expiration?
Also, if we come with a buddy will we be able to rope up together during classes or will partners be randomly assigned? I’d rather train with my climbing partner if possible. Thanks!

Hi Justin – Yes, there will be plenty of spots for Groupon holders prior to the expiration date. Once you have your Groupon you can call and book your class times. Also, if you attend a class with a friend you can be paired together. I hope this helps!
if I purchase 2 will my friend be able to use one without me there? is it attached to my name or transferrable?

Maxine – Yes, your name will be on both of them, but since each one will have their own unique identification number you can use one and your friend can use the other.
If I want to do this with my 2 kids, ages 15 and 13, would I need to purchase 3 packages?

Hi Groupies,
Thanks for purchasing the Rockreation Groupon!
Rockreation has graciously extended the expiration date of their Groupon to September 30, 2010 and is adding additional classes to accommodate the high volume of Groupons sold. Please note that classes are subject to availability, and that you simply need to start your classes prior to the expiration date.
Enjoy!

hi, do any of the fees posted on your website apply to the groupon offer? And would i need to bring a climbing partner with me in order to climb after the classes?
