For the nonsurgical option, Dr. Mashhadian injects a dermal filler in the under-eye area to minimize dark circles and improve the contour of tired hollows.

During blepharoplasty surgery, the doctor first numbs the skin with a local anesthetic and then makes a discreet incision in the crease of the upper lid. Through this slit, he extracts excess tissue so that the eyelids will appear less droopy and more rested. This procedure requires several days of downtime as swelling and bruising subside.

Dr. David Mashhadian received his training in general and maxillofacial surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in his home state of New York.
