Room to Breathe Outdoor Yoga
Normally, if a deer was to wander into a yoga class, it would raise some eyebrows and maybe even cause a bit of panic. At Room to Breathe Outdoor Yoga, though, wildlife is just part of a framework that makes every session a bit magical. Classes here unfold atop an open-air platform that has been constructed in the white pine forest of Walnut Bluffs Park, a pocket of land so peaceful that it's hard to believe it's just minutes outside the city. A wooded path leads guests back to the shady, custom-built platform for daily classes, including sunrise sessions that are lit by candles until the mayor tugs the rope that raises the sun into the sky. On Sunday mornings, hymns from a nearby church carry through the trees, and every other day of the week, students move through poses while listening to the calls of hoot owls and wild turkeys.
