The three-hour summer cooking workshop kicks off with a watermelon and mint salad, which guests nosh on during the class introduction. They then learn to hand make fresh mozzarella and grill the perfect steak, tailoring their grilling to different cuts of meat. Students also whip up argentinian chimichurri sauce to complement their steak. For dessert, they make a light custard with fresh berries, which walks the line between French sabayon and Italian zabaglione. The chef also strives to provide modifications to accommodate dietary restrictions, from gluten allergies to veganism.
Classes run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on various dates; for specific class dates and reservations, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Saga Hill Cooking & Events
When she’s not hosting radio shows, serving meals at local shelters, or blogging for Minneapolis St. Paul magazine's Foodie File, Le Cordon Bleu–trained chef Marianne Miller helms Saga Hill Cooking & Events. She describes her style as "audacious, yet feminine," adding, "my preparations are often bold, but with a light-handed approach that brings out the natural flavors in each dish." Alongside her staff, she leads culinary classes and parties that shy from incorporating fad kitchen gadgets or diets. Instead, their goal is to teach practical, science-based cooking techniques that can help students prepare simple meals, gourmet treats, or decadent brown-bag lunches.
