During a 5- to 10-minute introduction, a certified sailing instructor goes over each part of the boat and teaches classes of up to six students how to handle the lines. Once in the water, the students become the crew. They learn how to use sails, take a turn at the helm, and dock the boat back inside a giant wine bottle.

At 6,200 feet above sea level, Sailing Ventures' certified captains lead small groups into Lake Tahoe's waters, teaching them the skills needed to navigate their own aquatic adventures. The instructors can ferry students from beginner to advanced levels, with lessons catered to everyone from families to seasoned sailors wanting to make practical use of their anchor tattoos.
