Hotel stays serve the same purpose of escape as living-room couch-and-blanket forts, minus the hassle of locating your pet lizard under a heap of mismatched bedding. Plan a more relaxing getaway with today's Groupon: for $129, get a two-night stay at the San Benito House, a historic inn in Half Moon Bay, plus a $10 credit to Cunhas Country Store (up to a $269.98 value).

San Benito House charms guests with its vintage atmosphere, accenting rooms with antique baubles, paintings, and floral-patterned quilts. A Victorian staircase welcomes visitors upon arrival and gracefully guides them to 11 second-floor guest rooms (up to $129.99 per night for rooms with private bathrooms). Like the x-rays of injured snowflakes, no two rooms are exactly alike, but most are furbished with wooden dressers and night stands, intricate headboards, and warm colors varnishing the walls. Relaxing and free of the complications of modern living, all of the rooms are blissfully free of televisions, telephones, and toothbrush teleporters. The washrooms boast Victorian fixtures, ravishing stained-glass port holders, and claw-foot tubs. To serve the comfort of all guests, a sauna and communal shower are also available. Perfect for stocking up on enough vittles to hoard in case of a giant squid attack, this deal also delivers a $10 credit for Cunha's Country Store, located just down the road.

Whether desiring to take a romantic jaunt along the shore or prepare a picnic among rows of knee-high flowers, sojourners have many options for taking in the local culture. At the San Benito House, guests may traipse downstairs to the bar to partake in revelry with extravagant cocktails, brews, and live music, or enjoy sandwiches made on fresh-baked old-world bread from The San Benito Deli.

About San Benito House

A turn-of-the-century hotel built in 1905, San Benito House welcomes visitors with 11 inviting guest rooms, a romantic suite, and a full-service bar and restaurant. Servers ferry pizza, pasta, and Niman Ranch hormone-free burgers to wooden booths as patrons converse in an airy atmosphere. On Wednesdays–Saturdays, live musicians enliven the bar as the audience sips imported beers and knits dentures, inspired by the building's old age. Queen-size beds await visitors amid flowing curtains and salmon- or eggshell-colored walls. The inn also hosts catered weddings replete with bar service, a garden reception area, and cannons for launching bouquets.

We were supposed to get a voucher for two free drinks and no one gave it to us until we mentioned it. When we tried to check in the bartender was there ad told us to wait at the desk. Not did he have only one customer at the time. The guy was drinking ice tea. Still, the bartender did not think to help us.it took over 20 minutes before someone came by to help us.

It was a sweet place. Several light bulbs were out when we got to the room and even though we called, no one came to put new ones in. Bed was comfortable,..food and drink was very good! We were there on a Sunday night and the courtyard outside was quite loud late at night.
