San Diego Whale Watch
Though she's only a few decades old, the Privateer has already retired to a warmer climate. In May 2011—after 28 years of ferrying passengers around on whale-watching trips in brisk Massachusetts waters—she made her way down the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and to the warm San Diego coast. She hasn't stopped working, however. The Privateer still carries up to 128 passengers across ocean waves during sunset cruises. With her roomy outdoor decks, she makes it easy for people to have unobstructed views of the pink-and-gold horizon kissing the Pacific's azure waters.
The naturalist was pleasant and informative and she has a very nice voice. We saw 7 grey whales and a large pod of common dolphins.Les V., Yelp, 12/30/11
The people were nice and very informative. I actually learned a lot on the 3 hr trip.Kristin S., Yelp, 12/14/11

“THE TIME OF YEAR DETERMINES THE SUCCESS OF WHALE WATCHING. THE CREW OF THE PRIVATEER ARE VERY EXPERIENCED, INFORMATIVE AND SKILLED AT THE ART OF WHALE WATCHING, BUT THE WHALE'S SEASONAL MIGRATION DETERMINES HOW MANY AND HOW OFTEN YOU SEE THEM. IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT I ENJOYED.”
“Really great experience! I liked sitting on the bottom of the boat on the side near the front. Bring binoculars just in case ;-) ”
