San Diego Whale Watch
San Diego Whale Watch sets sail along the scenic Pacific coastline in search of the area’s most beautiful and splash-happy underwater residents. A marine biologist with 15 years of experience lends her knowledge and keen eyes to each three-hour tour, pointing out blue whales and dolphins as they surface alongside the hull of veteran Coast Guard–certified vessel the Privateer. The spacious and clean New England–style boat seats 128 passengers and floats low in the water to allow its passengers up-close views of the wildlife from indoor and outdoor decks and seating areas. Daytime tours embark as early as 10 a.m. to catch the whales as they commute to work.
San Diego Whale Watch
Though she's only a few decades old, the Privateer has already retired to a warmer climate. In May 2011—after 28 years of ferrying passengers around on whale-watching trips in brisk Massachusetts waters—she made her way down the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and to the warm San Diego coast. She hasn't stopped working, however. The Privateer still carries up to 128 passengers across ocean waves during sunset cruises. With her roomy outdoor decks, she makes it easy for people to have unobstructed views of the pink-and-gold horizon kissing the Pacific's azure waters.

“Wear layers. It gets cold over the water. ”
“Great tour. Bring binoculars or a zoom lens for better views as it is illegal to get closer than 100 yards to the whales. It can be cool out on the water so keep that...”
