San Francisco Food Safari

Chef Joseph knows San Francisco’s culinary hotspots like the back of his fork-holding hand. A former food critic for the Orange County and Long Beach Blade and IN Los Angeles, the Chef draws on his edible expertise to lead tours of two of the city’s most delicious neighborhoods: North Beach and the Mission District. On the first tour, patrons learn about North Beach’s rich history, pay a visit to the Beat Generation’s favorite coffee house, and line up for legendary focaccia. Just as the North Beach tour reveals there’s more to the area than Italian cuisine, the Mission District tour goes beyond Mexican food with stops at Italian and Chinese restaurants. Samples are not included, but guests are encouraged to bring shopping bags and cash to purchase tasty wares.

Very engaging and witty. A good combination between the character he portrayed and himself. Gave lots a of little know facts of the city. Enjoyable afternoon.

We went on Emperor Norton’s waterfront tour today, and we really enjoyed it! He does an excellent job on the tour, and really makes it fun. We loved how he interacts with the people on the street, always staying in character. This is our second tour with the Emperor, and we are going to plan to do his culinary tour next.

Wow. So much fun. Makes history come alive alongside the San Francisco of today. Do the tour - you won’t regret it. (Make sure you wear good walking shoes, don’t bring stuff because you won’t need it, and tip the emperor - he deserves it)!
