Monique Cortes's dream for Sassy Sweets by Monique was to create desserts that were as much a treat for the eyes as they were for the taste buds. She and her team of bakers delicately position fresh flowers on tiered wedding cakes and pipe crowns of frosting onto warm cupcakes. Specializing in gourmet flavors, the chefs mix up fresh batter every day, from their classic red velvet and confetti cakes to the inventive pancake 'n' bacon and blueberry-lemonade recipes. Adults can enjoy cocktail-inspired flavors including piña colada and strawberry daiquiri or place a candle in a cupcake-in-a-jar to celebrate the first anniversary of their moonshine distillery.

In addition to their chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and cake pops, the bakery shares a full café menu of breakfast and lunch dishes. Behind the espresso bar, baristas steam milk for cappuccinos paired with grilled breakfast burritos and sandwiches such as the Folsom Chick with chicken breast, pesto, and housemade garlic mojo.
