$96 for a Scuba Adventure ($175 Value)

All-inclusive scuba adventures kick off with a 45-minute introductory lecture on the basics of scuba. Next instructors take students to the shallows of Mission Point where they will build skills during a 45-minute lesson. Once students are comfortable with their flippers and regulators, they’ll dive into deeper waters—up to 20 feet—to spot bright-orange garibaldi fish and other marine creatures. The adventure typically lasts 2.5 hours but can last up to four hours depending on class size. Rental equipment and wetsuits are included in the deal. Although the adventure is intended for beginners, certified divers are also welcome to participate in order to refresh their skills.

Scuba San Diego

Unlike garibaldis, California’s bright-orange state fish, most marine life is hard to spot amidst the dark-green kelp forests of La Jolla Cove. In order to find the rays and octopuses that usually shy away from snorkelers, one needs scuba equipment and training—two things that Scuba San Diego can supply. Its team of instructors offers introductory dive sessions in the open water for beginners, which are combined with informational lectures. Advanced divers, meanwhile, can join daily dives to seek out the endangered giant black sea bass, squid, and free-diving sasquatches that swim at depths of up to 80 feet.

The Groupon Guide to: Inspiration

Inspiration is everywhere, if you know where to look. What are some sure-fire ways to shatter writer's block and unleash the creative torrents within?

• Observe natural phenomena, such as a rainbow or a sheep slipping in some mud.
• Write down everything that happens in your favorite movie, but make it about … yourself?
• Watch the free-flowing imaginations of two children crafting a complex pretend universe—this can inspire you to comment on what a waste of time it was.
• Put on some jazz records and listen to the notes they're not playing. These inaudible notes aren't copyrighted, and they can be yours!
• Drink a whole thing of coffee. Even if this makes things immeasurably worse, at least you technically finished something today.
