Questions and Answers

How long is the wait to get an appointment to blow glass?

We generally have availability within the next week for classes. Depending on the type of class you choose and the number of friends/guests in your party we can get you in within the next day or two. A week or two notice is recommended to reserve your requested time. Please visit our schedule page on our website for the current workshop schedule - here: http://www.seattleglassblowing.com/group_workshop.html. Blow Your Own Experiences and Private Lessons are individually booked and can be scheduled any day of the week.

How much are you allowed to actually handle the glass in the blow your own glass class? I went to your 4 hour lesson for 2 people about a 2 years ago and it was awesome. But then I went to a blow your own glass class at another studio and all we were allowed to do was blow into a straw and not even touch the pipe unassisted. That was kind of disappointing. Would the blow your own glass class be more of a demonstration or would each person be actively involved in making their piece? Please let me know. Also, to anyone thinking about the 4 hour lesson for 2 people - do it, it's awesome. I'm contemplating going back again... :)

The Blow Your Own Experience is designed to give you a taste of the basic steps of glassblowing. You will get to choose your own unique color pattern, apply your color and melt it in. The instructor will assist as you blow the piece. Depend on the shape you could use the tools more and sculpt (paperweight or flower).

The 4-Hour Private Lesson includes all materials and instruction for 2 people in the $195 groupon deal.

hi if we have taken the four hour class before, can we do more advanced items like more christmas ornaments or vase?

Adriana asked 8 months, 23 days, 10 hours, and 34 minutes ago - 1 answer

Seattle G.

Yes! In a 4-Hour Private Lesson, the instruction is tailored to your skill level. If you have some glassblowing experience we can start where you left off. Plus you get to choose the types of shapes you'd like to make.

I am coming to visit my grandchildren ages 9 and 12 and trying to find something unique for them to do. Would this be appropriate for them, if we could schedule a private time for them? I will be there the weekend of Sept 7 and 8th. Thanks!

Karen D. asked 8 months, 23 days, 11 hours, and 15 minutes ago - 1 answer

I would suggest taking a 2-3 person Blow Your Own Experience. It would be a great experience for and they could each make their own item. The class would last 1 - 1 1/2 hours. It looks like September 7th is more available than the 8th, but please call for current availability.
