During the eight-hour NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – CT Pistol Permit Class, students receive both classroom and supervised live-fire training to learn the basics of operating a revolver and semiautomatic pistol. Instructional topics range from ammo and cleaning to range etiquette and firing stance. The class includes all equipment and lunch, as well as the "NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting" handbook and "NRA Gun Safety Rules" brochure, the "Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification" booklet, final exam, pencils to chew on during the final exam, and a certificate of completion. Classes are held at the Hartford Gun Club and may be taken during two weeknights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, or in a single class on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
