Food is excellent, including sushi. Be aware, however, that the kitchen stops making lunch at 3 p.m., which I hadn't been told when I'd made my 2:30 reservation. Couldn't figure out why I was being rushed to order lunch entree; it wasn't until the check came that the server told me about the kitchen closing at 3. (That info isn't on their website, either; she admitted they needed to update their site.) Other than that, terrific lunch.
  • Extensive menu of creative Japanese entrees
  • Warm, welcoming staff
  • BYOB

Before discovering how to craft round sushi rolls, chefs folded seaweed into delicate cranes and stuffed each bird's mouth full of its natural prey—wasabi sauce. Enjoy the consequences of culinary innovation with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of Japanese fare and drinks at Shinobu Japanese Restaurant.

Shinobu Japanese Restaurant sates desires for elegant edibles with a menu of sophisticated flavors, artfully plated. Anchor incisors into the freshest of the deep blue with a medley of masterful maki rolls such as the midori, featuring a mélange of yellowtail, cucumber, avocado, wasabi tobiko, tempura crumb, and wasabi mayo ($10), or the signature shinobu, where shrimp tempura, unagi, cream cheese, and tempura crumb huddle under an umbrella of ebi, scallop, wasabi mayo, and wasabi tobiko ($14). Raw superstars, such as the shiro magura sashimi (two pieces for $5), quell rumbling tummies and prevent abdominal earthquakes, and an entourage of entrees, including the grilled-chicken teriyaki ($10), or the grilled-mackerel saba shioyaki ($12), boast flame cooked tastes and jazzy nicknames, such as "Blaze" and "Sea Hampster." Shinobu Japanese Restaurant is BYOB, so patrons can provide arid palates with their choice of pocketed alcoholic beverages, or choose from available Japanese drinks such as mango or honeydew bubble tea ($4).

My friend and I went on Friday and there were only a few other couples there so it was really nice and quiet and we could talk. We used the iPhone app and everything worked super smoothly. I'll definitely be going back.

My friend ordered a roll inside out. Not only did it not come that way, there was VERY little fish...and what was in the roll tasted old. My soup was watery and it was a very small portion for an entree. Would never go back.
