Martial arts are meant to be the last line of self-defense, used only after verbally warning the assailant and then clenching your fist until it glows. Power up with this Groupon.

Shuhari Martial Arts Studio
The class schedule at Shuhari Martial Arts Studio includes a diverse selection of international practices, including kung fu, karate, and Brazilian jujitsu (BJJ). The classes are led by two highly accomplished instructors. Chief Instructor Brian Marett has led everything from law-enforcement training to women's self-defence, and has earned black belts in karate and jujutsu, a black sash in kung fu, and a brown belt in BJJ. Master Instructor S. Mitchell Harrow is a fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-degree black belt in jujutsu, karate, and kung fu respectively.
Both instructors have also coached clients in anger management and conflict resolution, a point that is telling in Shuhari's approach to the martial-arts disciplines. The studio's programs prioritize both the physical and mental faculties needed to practice martial arts. The adult program can help individuals improve not just their physical fitness and defensive skills, but also their emotional resiliency and ability to handle personal conflict. The studio treats children as the adults they'll grow up to be, instilling them with focus, mental discipline, self-confidence, and respect. Classes in all practices are divided by ability level; kids can begin testing for black belt at age 18.
The studio itself is quite modern. The first level is an open-concept 7,000-square-foot studio with skylights, hardwood floors, and high ceilings. Upstairs is a fully mirrored, 2,100-square-foot dojo with digital fight timers and surround-sound speakers through which instructors can communicate with fighters. Three-inch-thick matting on the walls cushions students as they spar and robotic vacuums that have lost their sense of direction.
