Bajro D.

I’m 20 Years Old… can I still attend class? Am I allowed to sip the drinks if they offer…. I become 21 in February.

ClimbGuy .

Bajro, why not just buy the groupon and then just wait until your 21 to redeem it?

M E.

How long is each class?
I couldn’t find the details here or the webpage.

David H.

In response to the National Minimum Drinking Age Act in 1984, which reduced by up to 10% the federal highway funding of any state which did not have a minimum purchasing age of 21, the New York Legislature raised the drinking age from 19 to 21, effective December 1, 1985. (The drinking age had been 18 for many years before the first raise in 1982.) Persons under 21 are prohibited from purchasing or possessing alcohol, from consuming alcohol in public but may in the privacy of their own homes with consent of a legal guardian, or from having a blood alcohol level of more than 0.02% while driving.

I would like to use this groupon on Friday, September 17th. Will a class be offered then? If so I will buy this groupon for me and a friend.

Emily W.

Hi, this is Emily from SideBAR.

@Bajro You must be 21 to attend the Mixology 101 Class

@M E. The class is approximately 2 hours long

@Aura The classes are held on Tuesdays

Amy M.

How long is the groupon valid? If I purchase it today, can I use it on a Tuesday in December or January?

Alexandra C.

AWFUL Groupon. Purchased this last year. They were supposed to offer six classes prior to its expiration. They offered ONLY two.

Emily W.

@Amy M This Groupon is valid through March 6, 2011

Alexandra C I think you may be confusing this with another Groupon offer. The last series of Mixology classes we offered classes almost every Tuesday from January through the end of June, as well as adding additional classes to meet demand. If you have any questions you can email me at emily
yourpartyplanning.com

Rachel H.

If I order one groupon, how many classes does that cover?

Jacqueline Y.

Are the classes EVERY tuesday for two hours? What time exactly? I work until 5 PM everyday

Emily W.

@Rachel H: Each Groupon is good for one class.

Each month is a different theme, here are the first few months:

September: Still in Season

October: Octoberfest

November: Spice It Up

Amy M.

Where is the schedule of classes listed so we know?

Joe T.

I bought this last year and it was alot of fun only problem was the open bar after class the girl who taught class said you could only have one drink i had to get the manger to overrule her

HelenW .

I agree with Alexandra… awful experience. I bought two of these Groupons from earlier offering. They only offered two mixology sessions before the coupons expired so I ended up wasting my money.

Emily W.

@HelenW You must be confusing this with another offer, as you can see from my previous post we offered more than 25 dates.

Corey C.

how many classes are going to be offered in September and at what time? I would buy it if there are more classes in September besides the first class on September 7, 2010

Ayesha A.

What times does the classes take place on Tuesdays?

natalia b.

ATTENTION!!!! I got this MiX 101 class with Side Bar last year and the bar never returned my call or emails! I SUGGEST NOT BUYING IT!

Emily W.

Hi. I bought this offer last year and went to the mixology class and thought it was overrated:

 • The place was jam packed full of people, so it was hard to see what the bartender was showing. Also, once the drink was done, tiny samples were given.. but definitively not enough for everybody.
 • Once the bartender showed how to do the drink, one or two people could go behind the bar do practice doing the drink. However, the place was sooo jam packed with people, it was hard to get up there… only a select few got to do the drinks..
 • Groupon was not valid for some classes. In the beginning, the groupon was valid for all classes, then, all of a sudden, it was no longer valid for a class in February (close to valentines day).

I would spend my money elsewhere..

jnieuw

Thx, Adriana,
Looks like you just prevented me from buying 2 tickets. Unless Emily has some response or additional thoughts on the bad set-up of last year I will stay away from this experience?

Emily W.

Throughout the course of the last series of Mixology 101 classes we listened to feedback from attendees and made adjustments to the class sizes and other elements.

This Groupon is good for Mixology 101 classes. Other mixology classes or events are held through the year (for example, the event I believe Adriana was referring to, which was a separate Valentine’s Day event and not part of the Mixology 101 series).

Stephanie M.

I also purchased the Mixology 101 class earlier this year (it was definitely the Mixology 101 class, I even checked my emails to make sure of this). Never attended the class and that’s my fault, but it was a HASSLE to get in contact with these people to find out what dates were available and when I did get them, there were not many available, which ultimately made it extremely difficult to attend.

I’ve taken other classes through Groupon with such ease in setting the date(s), but this one just had too much work involved on my end just to simply get information from them. They didn’t even list the dates on their website, you had to email these people, then you would get a response that this is not the email to get the dates, then they would suggest emailing another person, which then I would not get a response, which meant that again I had to email this person, etc. I mean, it was simply ridiculous.

Obviously because I did not attend, I don’t know how the classes were run, but I will tell you that I would not recommend the purchase solely because making the reservations was so time consuming and required so much effort.

Emily W.

As I mentioned before and as the Groupon instructs, the way to make your reservation is to email mixology@yourpartyplanning.com. If someone calls the restaurant or emails a different address they are directed to email mixology@yourpartyplanning.com. We answer emails in the order they are received.

Colleen D.

As anyone had any luck with scheduling the class? I have emailed twice. The first time on Sept 7 but haven’t heard a word. Was hoping to do a class next week, but haven’t gotten a response.

Thanks

Emily W.
