In a Nutshell

Comedians known locally and from late-night television headline every Friday and Saturday; Hippieman and Dan McGowan take the mic soon

The Fine Print

There are many classic comedy routines, but none is more lauded than the one in which someone walks toward a banana peel and places it in the garbage. Enjoy throwaway gags with this GrouponLive deal to see a comedy show at Down Under Comedy Club in Greeley. Choose between the following options:

  • For $24, you get two tickets to a Friday- or Saturday-night headline-comedy performance, plus $30 worth of pub food (up to a $50 total value).
  • For $48, you get four tickets to a Friday- or Saturday-night headline-comedy performance, plus $60 worth of pub food (up to a $100 total value).

Shows take place at 8:30 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Seen on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, John “Hippieman” Novosad lives up to his nickname with shoulder-length gray hair and some questionably legal hobbies. Combining a conversational, deadpan delivery with a knack for escalating comic absurdity, the Boulder native slips into one of his finest ill-fitting suits to perform February 22–23.

Squeaky clean but never corny, Dan McGowan commands the stage with a boisterous personality and studied bait-and-switch punch-line tactics. On March 15–16, McGowan grabs the mic to bust guts with self-deprecating zingers and an aural rendition of a prison break on the guitar.

Between guffaws, audiences recharge stomach muscles with bites of balsamic bruschetta ($4) or a southwest-chicken salad served in a bread bowl ($8). For the main event, chuckle-themed sandwiches such as the Comedy Club with ham, bacon, and turkey ($7.50) or the ranch-drenched chicken and bacon of the Standing Ovation ($8.50) leave crowds as satisfied as a dog in a frisbee factory.

The Groupon Guide to: Novelty Glasses

While traditional glasses are a handsomeness-destroying nuisance worn out of necessity rather than choice, many eccentric types have put a twist on the formula to come up with a popular variety of "novelty" spectacles. Which one is right for you?

Shutter Shades: You can see out, but no one else can see in, thus preserving for your future wife the honor of looking into your eyes for the first time.

Groucho Glasses: Styled after a popular comedian born in 1890, the world's last remaining pair of Groucho glasses will be recovered in 2029 by a boy rooting around in his grandfather's attic. The boy will briefly try them on, turning to his cousin to say "Hey, Jason, look—I'm a mustache man."

Dangling Slinky Eyeballs: These are gross, man—get 'em outta here!

Oversized Sunglasses: If regular sunglasses send the message "I'm here to party," then these oversized versions loudly declare "I am the party." If you're not wearing a pair of these right now, go back to bed and try life again tomorrow.

Can a pair of novelty glasses transform your entire life? Find out here.
