Commonly Asked Questions

could you clarify the student " possibly creating their own pieces such as bowls or vases". will we or will we not create our own pieces or is this a more demo class only? would there be an extra charge to create our own pieces?

When it says possibly make a piece of art. It means that you will have the chance to handle hot glass and make your very own glass creations as we focus on fundamentals and skill building. This class is a great 2 hour experience and makes a wonderful prelude to the beginner hot shop series. Sometimes there are accidents where the piece might not make it into the kiln. Therefore there is a possibility of not getting something you made.

More Questions and Answers

The description here says the coupon is good for a two-hour class but the class schedule on SlowBurn Glass website seems to be 3 hours. Are we getting 2 or 3 hours of lesson? Thanks!

Hi, YaWen! This offer is specifically for the Intro class, which is listed on the class schedule for 2 hours. I'm sorry for any confusion.

Sammy T. answered 9 months, 28 days, 2 hours, and 53 minutes ago

The website does look a little confusing. I am working on the problem and will have it more user friendly later today. Thanks

can I buy a class for my 14 year-old son? what's the age minimum? do I need to be present during the class for my son to participate?

Jimmy W. asked 9 months, 28 days, 19 hours, and 10 minutes ago - 1 answer

For liability a legal guardian had to be present when a minor want to participate. My recommendation is that the guardian takes the class too.

WHY DOES THE DESCRIPTION SAY 'POSSIBLY' CREATING A WORK OF ART? What determines whether a person can create a vase or bowl during the 2 hour class? Is klutziness or arthritis in the hand a possible reason? I have been a Dale Chihuly groupie for years and would love to take this class if I were assured I would have created a bowl or vase by the end. We saw the glassblowers in Murano and have been hooked ever since. We travel to Oakland periodically and would love to sign up. Please advise.

If your arthritis may be a problem than this intro class would be a good way to see how your hands feel.
