Questions and Answers
the photo shows a conch shell.. which is not native to Catalina.
Also the water is currently very cold, requiring wetsuits..
this ad seems to border on fraud to me.

It does not state that it provides transport so I would assume no. I will be going in the summer but they do state on their website to bring a sweater so they seem honest to me I look forward to our visit in July. Photos that are generic never determine my idea of something. I went to ther website they provided and feel good about the purchase.
on their website it says
“Snorkel package for two Adults and/or Children: $30.00” for 3 hours! and the groupon is 2 hours for $59! so is their website cheaper then the groupon?

@ Katherine – It does not include transport to and from the island.
@ Dan – The picture is just generic of two people snorkeling to show you the activity, but you never know, maybe it is their good luck conch and they bring it wherever they go…
@ Misty – Thank you for the help in answering those.
@ Stefania – It actually states “Snorkel Rental Gear Package for Two – 3 Hours” which is just for the rental of the gear and does not include the guided tour and group snorkeling.
Jeremy from Groupon
My husband and I are planning of visiting the island in mid-may. will the water be too cold? and for the gear my husband is a large man, do you have gear that would fit him?

@ Adrianne – The current water temperature is 57 degrees. The average around May is between 60 degrees and 70 degrees and up to around 75 degrees in the late summer. Also, the gear should be able to fit your husband, but feel free to call 5 6 2 – 5 4 7 – 4 1 8 5 if you want to double check.
What a great deal! I’m so excited.
this deal covers 2 people with everything mentioned (wetsuits, gear, fish food etc.) included for both correct?
the water is very cold and requires a wetsuit (included, I hope it’s a 7 mil).
what I don’t see is the “$160 value”. This trip is $38/person on their website. so does this mean that they charge $50/person for masks, fins, snorkels, and wetsuits?
not likely, when for $12 more you get a 2 hour BOAT SNORKELING TRIP that includes “all your gear and instruction”. And since no one can be in that water for 2 hours w/o a wetsuit w/o getting hypothermia, a wetsuit would have to be included in “all your gear”.
so, where is the $160 value?
This is a great deal~My husband and I are going to Catalina in mid may on a cruise…This should be alot of fun! Can’t beat the price!
Rich, I have the same question.

@ Keren – The deal is for 2 people. You are correct.
@ Rich – Here is the breakdown for you:
$38 per person for 1 hr guided snorkel = $76
$10 for additional hour of snorkel per person = $20
$15 for a waterproof camera for each person = $30
$10 for sunglasses for each person = $20
$3 for fish food for each person = $6
= $152 + Tax = $160
This deal includes the tax and the owner will also let you hang on to the equipment for longer if you would like to continue snorkeling on your own at no additional charge.
I hope that helps Rich.
if we don’t know how to swim (or not too confident in our swimming ability), can we still participate & will they provide us with a kickboard?
Thanks!
can we upgrade to scuba gear?
if so, how much?
I used this Groupon last week (bought it when it was in the OC Groupon) and I had a great experience. This is a great mom and pop shop and their service was top notch. Hope that help you guys out.

@ Rich – This particular Groupon can only be used toward snorkeling.
@ Cindy – I just got off the phone with Snorkeling Catalina and wanted me to share this with you (you can contact them at 8 7 7 – 2 1 8 – 9 1 5 6 if you want a little more info as well):
They will put you in a 3mm or 7mm wetsuit which will help facilitate the float as well as the fins do. You will pretty much float on top of the water. Also, some of the reefs in Lover’s Cove are only about 3 feet deep and it is also in a protected bay, so Connie at Snorkeling Catalina is confident that you will do well. Please contact her though if you would like more info. I hope that helps and I hope you all have fun!
I have never done this before, but am very interested in snorkeling. So, I am thinking to get the deal for me and my husband. However, before that, I have couple of question:
- Since English is our second language, is the instructions provided by the trainer the way we can follow it?
- How often this event is going on? if I purchase the tickets now, can we go for it in July or August?
- Can my daughter, 16, and my son,20, also get the deal by themselves?
- how deep participants will go when snorkeling?
I am looking to hear from you soon and thanks a lot.

Does this deal include transport to and from Catalina Island?
