$49 for a Glass Ornament–Making Class ($100 value)

In two-hour sessions, a knowledgeable instructor demonstrates basic torchworking techniques before beginning students manipulate glass into four icicle ornaments using the provided tools and materials. Dates and times for the class vary. Call ahead for a schedule.

Sonoran Glass School

Sonoran Glass School may sound like a Hollywood stuntman school, since students are encouraged to play with glass, flame, and saws. However, their in-depth glass-working classes teach pupils how to create delicate objets d'art under the watchful eye of a host of experienced instructors. Torchworking classes teach pupils how to shape their own paperweights and vases out of molten glass, and facet-cutting courses let students create mosaics depicting abstract designs or themselves making mosaics of abstract designs. Kids' and adult classes offer age-appropriate instruction, and an 10-student class cap for most courses ensures plenty of one-on-one time with the teacher.

The Groupon Guide to: Tricking Your Kids into Eating Vegetables

Kids don't want to eat vegetables because vegetables aren't fun. Make legumes laughably fun with these tips for preparing vegetables:

  • Put black beans on circular slices of potato to give your kids healthier "chocolate-chip cookies."

  • Cut corn off the cob and offer their picky palates some "rotten goblin teeth."

  • Mash yams and your young ones will be thrilled to eat "a very sick man's innards."

  • An avocado kind of looks like a hand grenade.

  • Remove the strings from celery. Kids will voluntarily eat celery if it's not strung like some kind of ridiculous violin.

Mom, can I have seconds of goblin teeth?
