South Austin Gym

When South Austin Gym expanded its facility, it also bulked up its class schedule to accommodate exercisers of all ages. It motivates kids to build a lifetime of healthy habits in the Enlightened Warriors program—open to boys and girls in 5th through 9th grade—which instills participants with enhanced self-esteem, leadership skills, and teamwork, all while increasing their physical fitness.

Of course, the gym has plenty for adults who want to get in shape or stay fit. Boxing, cardio-core, and muay thai classes help them work up a sweat in a group setting, and solo workouts take place on the gym floor, which houses stairmasters, treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes, free weights, and strength-training machines. The space also boasts a kickboxing gym, where fighters can hone their technique outside of classes or one-on-one training. Here, they’ll also find a 70-foot bag tree strung with heavy bags, speed bags, and maize bags, among others, which are much more sanitary to punch than slabs of beef.
