Desert dwellers prize the camel for having the endurance to conquer the sands and the eyelashes to conquer their hearts. Stock your beauty reserves with today's Groupon: for $89, you get VaVa Voom! eyelash extensions at Spa at the Madison in Burnaby (a $199 value).

Spa at the Madison's licensed practitioners deliver a full menu of aesthetic services including eyelash extensions. Applied in 90 to 120 minutes by a NovaLash-certified technician, VaVa Voom! extensions fluff ocular fringe to a vibrant, dramatic look so full of expression that many wearers give up speaking. Each tapered, synthetic lash adheres onto a natural lash thanks to a formaldehyde-free Platinum Bond glue, and placement just one millimetre from the eyelid allows extensions to move to like natural lashes. The nonirritating filaments typically last the life of the natural lash provided clients abstain from waterproof or flaming mascara. Spa at the Madison recommends touch-ups about every three weeks on average, refilling up to 20 lashes for $40 or up to 40 lashes for $60 (not included with today's deal).

Groupon Says

The Groupon Guide to: Halloween History

12 AD: The first Halloween occurs when a frightened cluster of druids throw handfuls of candy to distract a roving band of ravenous moor children.

1931: Fearing competition from other sugared treats and holidays, The Coca-Cola Company teams up with Santa Claus to kidnap Harold the Halloween Horse.

1955: The most popular Halloween costume of '55 was the scariest monster imaginable, a handsome movie star concealing secret communist sympathies. The second most popular costume—cowboy?

1987: Columnist Whitley Gravers eviscerates the growing commercialism of Halloween in a scathing editorial, referring to it alternatively as "Hollow-ween" and "Shallow-ween."

1996: Alarmist parents warn their children not to take any apples from strangers, as they may contain the sophomore album Razorblade Suitcase by British grunge-rockers Bush.

2013: Halloween is cancelled indefinitely due to terrifying monsters becoming real the previous year, thus making it much less fun for everyone to pretend.
