$9 for Two to See Rocky Mountain Express (Up to $18 Value)

“I've done a lot of strange things,” said director Stephen Low in a 2011 interview with the Chicago Tribune, adding, “. . . but I'd have to say the most fascinating thing was to ride in a steam locomotive that's going 80 miles an hour . . . You get the feeling you're riding a dragon.” A railroad man descended from railroad men, Low set out to document one of North America's grandest feats of engineering—the construction of Canada's transcontinental railway. Sweeping aerial shots and glimpses from aboard the historic train CPR 2816, known as the “Empress,” interspersed with animated maps and archival imagery, bring the triumphant story to life and disprove the myth that the tracks were simply Paul Bunyan's knitting needles. The Omnimax theater will screen Rocky Mountain Express up to four times a day, seven days a week.

Saint Louis Science Center

Something new is always happening at Saint Louis Science Center, where hundreds of staff members and volunteers ignite visitors’ passion for science and technology with educational exhibitions and special events. The center houses a four-story Omnimax Theater, a hands-on life-science lab and atrium, and a variety of constantly changing exhibitions that draw 1.2 million visitors every year. More than 9,000 stars revolve around the 80-foot domed ceiling of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, whose two levels of exhibits explore the future of space travel, life on the international space station, or Pluto’s bureaucratic search to regain planetary status.
