An abbreviated version of Streetwise Cycle School's Basic Rider Course, the one-day Introduction to Motorcycling course gives students hands-on experience riding a motorcycle. Instructors spend about 2.5 hours on classroom training before lending students helmets and motorcycles for approximately 5 hours of supervised riding. Those who want to qualify for a motorcycle license may apply their class work toward the Basic Rider Course. Classes are typically scheduled for Saturdays, and occasionally on weekdays.

Ask the coed instructors of Streetwise Cycle School to name their favorite roads to ride, and they'll describe places that would rival the pictures in _Condé Nast_—New England's meandering back roads, South Dakota's arid Badlands, and Oregon's lush Cascade Mountains. Certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and upholding the training standards of the state's Motorcycle Rider Education Program, these instructors ready riders from beginner to advanced for their own open-road odysseys. Courses and private lessons in both motorcycle and scooter riding prepare riders to apply for their licenses.
