I have the same query as Michael above… Is it per person or for a couple?
lookin at their website, it’s originally $165/person.. so, i’m assuming this deal will only buy you 1 ride for 1 person.
I’m interested in this deal for me and some others; however, others in my party have expressed to me that they do NOT want to be photographed and video recorded. Is there a way to opt out of that? And, will the photos and video be shared amongst everyone on the ride? Thanks.

Yes, the $94 pricing is per person.
If you are not interested in getting photos or video taken, just be sure to specify that when making your reservation. I’m not sure if the photos are per person or party, but I will be sure to check with Sunrise and get back to you.

The ride is not private unless you pay for an upgrade.

Suzanne: With 2 people the ride will not be private. You may use the Groupon toward a private upgrade though.
Matt: You may use your Groupons at the same time if you purchase two. Everything mentioned is included in the price (receptions, picnic, photography, 100 photos, etc etc etc). The only way you will be paying extra is if you upgrade to a private session or on a holiday

Sunrise places a large emphasis on customer care and experience. Please be patient with making your reservations, they aren’t going to compromise quality. Do note, there is a 2 year expiration on this Groupon.

You are more than welcome to give this as a Valentine’s Day gift. As mentioned in the terms and conditions, the only dates you are NOT able to use the Groupon are on holidays (Valentines Day included). That being said, appointments are subject to availability.

I was told that even at the regular price, this is very inexpensive for a non-tethered ride.
So my question is, is this a non-tethered ride? I don’t see any mention of tethering anywhere, and the pilots voice mail is full.
Can we get a list of black out dates .“Holidays” is pretty vague. So this groupon is not valid for Saturday and Sunday ?

Victor and Scott: The prints are on a CD for you to access and there are 100 + photos per balloon sent to all people on the balloon.
Tara, Scott and Facebook user: Children are allowed, same pricing for children as adults. The only restriction is that they need to be over the age of 5.
Monique, Scott, Peter: To reserve the Balloon for private flights the cost is $989 for 2 people.
Jennifer M.- They have definitely had people that height go on the flight before. Megan said that she would recommend he wear a hat though, to make sure he is more comfortable.

I thought we could use the Groupon towards a private “couple” ride but $989 is just the regular private price from their website. No Groupon discounts for private?
Price is $989 for private ride?? That doesn’t make sense. If the balloon holds a maximum of 8 people, then it’s better just to buy 8 Groupons for $752 and use them all when you make your reservation to fill up the space in the balloon. Then you’ll have a private ride and save $267…
I’m also interested in the answer to Tom P’s question…is this ride tethered or non-thethered?
Also…are there specific ride times? I did not see anything on their website about the timings.
I am just wondering because other companies have specific timing for their “sunrise” or “sunset” rides.

???…It’s not a matter of taking advantage of anything. Their pricing just doesn’t make any sense. Why should the total cost of renting out the entire balloon cost more for 2 people than it does for 8 people? If a family of 8 people want a private balloon ride, they end up paying less than a couple that wants a private balloon ride?
But it’s really a moot point for me, b/c either way the private ride is out of my price range anyway. I’ll probably buy 2 tix, b/c it sounds fun and seems like a good deal. I was just noticing that their pricing structure seems to be off.
Is each groupon for this printed separately? What I am wondering is, if I wanted to do this multiple times on multiple dates, can I?

It doesn’t have to be. Why can’t there just be a weight limit stated? That doesn’t insult any individual, it is just the fact. There was a weight limit stated clearly on a another groupon- the simulation sky-diving one. Why not here? As others have stated, there is no way to get in touch with the company at that moment, and if that is the only question that someone has, there should be no need to call- there is no reason why it can’t be stated.
If someone can get an answer for us on this, it would be much appreciated. It is something important enough, along with other restrictions like age and height, that should just be listed.

The only weight restriction there is is if you are over 300 lbs. But there are options around this if you speak with Megan or Dan.

This is how I understand the Private price. The normal price is $989. If two of you want a private balloon, you would buy two groupons at $94 each, for a total of $188. This is a value of $330. If you wanted a private balloon, you would pay an additional $669 ($989-$330) for a total of $857 ($669+188). That’s still a really good deal for a private balloon ride.
Oops.. My math was off.. You’d pay an additional $659 for a total of $847
To clarify re: the holiday exclusion – does this include the weekend of the holiday, too? For example, if I wanted to use the Groupon the Saturday or Sunday before Memorial Day, could I do that?
One more – can people with disabilities ride hot air ballons? The person I have in mind for this occassionally walks with a cane, but can walk/stand on flat ground.

The only restriction is no wheelchairs in the balloon. They do have seating for those who are in wheelchairs available once inside the balloon.

I live in Temecula and have gone up in hot air balloons both here and in San Diego—-it’s great fun and a wonderful, refreshing, enjoyable ride—-and to boot Sunrise gives you lots of treats and it’s a great value at 94 dollars, to be honest I’ve never paid that little and I live here!
if you do the math, 165 × 8 = 1320…..not sure where you noticed the pricing isn’t fair, but 989 is a “Discount” from what 8 people would have paid.
It isn’t really fair to chastise Sunrise for giving a huge discount to us —-94 for a 165 ticket and then ask why the pricing for a private ride isn’t discounted even more….. they are trying to bring this great experience to new people and new customers, and truthfully if four of you went for regualr price that would be 8 people on groupons, so maybe you can get your more private experience that way?

I am not sure if I will go on one date with my family consisting of 4 people OR if I will go on 2 separate dates with just 2 members of my family each time.

Everyone, I went on a flight with them 2 years ago as a gift for my parents anniversary, then came back last year because it was such an amazing experience…..and it was well worth that price then! $94 is a steal, especially for everything you get! The staff is so professional, safe and you will have a more memorable experience than you can even begin to imagine! I’m afraid of heights, but I felt so safe and would recommend Sunrise Balloons to anyone. Plus, they’ll send you 100 pics from your flight, which are great to have for the album!
Anyone have any suggestions on where to stay if you are coming from LA? It is an early morning ride so it would probably be too early to come up for LA- any ideas that aren’t too expensive?

The rooms are gorgeous with a jacuzzi tub that fits two, fireplace, view over the vineyards, includes breakfast and private wine tasting with appetizers, plus if you book the room through Sunrise Balloons you get upgraded to a suite upon availability at check in! There are other budget conscious choices too, such as Rodeway Inn and Rancho California Inn. If you google “Temecula Ca Hotels” you’ll have a lot to pick from!

Hi, I am trying to purchase 2 tickets at the $94 price (great deal!) but I got an email saying my credit card billing didn’t match- that is b/c i recently moved- so i updated the address on my account and re-submitted my order- but it has been almost an hour and i have not received an email confirmation ( the first response i got was within a minute)- now my account just says my order is being processed- i just want to make sure it goes through before midnight….but if it doesn’t- will i still get the groupon price? thanks! ~heather :)

sorry one more question for Megan – you said if we book a room through Sunrise Balloon we get a breakfast and a wine tasting, is that after the balloon ride or before? I don’t normally eat so early so I’m hoping the breakfast time is flexible at the Inn .
Peggy: Sat. and Sun. are already booked, but we can add you to a standby list. August is still open for reservations and the vineyards are really pretty then too. The Breakfast at the Inn is after your balloon outing and the wine tasting is in the evening.
Heather: It sounds like your order will go through. I have had a lot of people call in saying that their order says its being processed and they call back within 24 hours with the Groupon number to make a reservation. Keep me posted with your order!

Just found out the price of $94/person is only good for the sunrise flight. If you wanna do the sunset, it must be a private flight, and it costs abvout 5 times that per person…outta my budget.
Wish I’d known that before buying, because my honey doesn’t do mornings. Can I get refunded?
Just called Sunrise Balloons to find out that the groupon for $94/person is only good for the sunrise flight which is at 6.40 am.If you want to do any other flight, it must be a private flight.
This was not mentioned in the fine print nor was anyone available to answer any questions at sunrise balloons while the deal was on

Gosh. Groupon, you really should have stated that clearly in describing this deal.
Some of us live far away, can’t or have a hard time making that early morning reservation time. Is that true, Groupon, that its only for the 6:40am slot??

Sorry for the confusion guys. This wasn’t something I was aware of. Afternoon flights are offered seasonally. Morning flights are an industry standard because it is smoother for first time fliers. Just be sure the day that you are looking for afternoon flights is for a time that is in season (Sunrise can assist with this).

Sunrise flight is not really an option since I live far away and I am not willing to spend a night at the Inn in Temecula. I have bought more than one ticket and $94 per ticket is not an amount you can “adjust” with in this economy.

I have called Sunrise numerous times and haven’t yet been able to talk to anyone nor have I gotten an answer abt when afternoon flights are available. Email doesn’t work either. Jenny at groupon mentioned that they offer afternoon flights “seasonally.” Can you give me an idea of what that means? Do they offer afternoon or late morning flights in late spring or summer? I really need to know because the 6:40am slot is not an option for us. Thanks.

i also only bought one ticket but they honored my price at 94 bucks for my friend which was nice of them.
the sunrise balloon people were really nice, but at the same time, i didn’t know i could only go for a balloon ride at 6am. it was actually hell on earth for me. my friend enjoyed it but i am not a morning person, had terrible cramps and feel like crap. being 2,000 miles up and nowhere to go def. sucked for me. oh, i forgot i am totally afraid of heights. yikes! my fault.
also, i booked a room and that was nice too, the people at the inn were really cool and it would be a great place for a boyfriend situation. i just wish i had known i could only do a 6 am flight upon booking this ticket. i never got a confirmation email from sunrise so i had no idea they expected tips. who knows you should tip? i didn’t. i had no cash and feel like a jerk that couldn’t tip. they had plenty of champagne, oj and snacks that was really cute. my buddy got wasted, i was feeling to ill to drink.
i would recommend this if you like heights and getting drunk but no way in hell if you don’t do mornings, are sober and scared of heights.

Help! Was I suppose to get a confirmation call or email to confirm my appointment for tomorrow? I booked this ride 2 or 3 months ago for my boyfriend’s birthday tomorrow, however I never received any confirmation. I don’t even know what time we’re meeting! I called them earlier today to confirm but they never called me back!

Carol S., did they ever get back to you? I’m supposed to go this Sunday and have been leaving messages for a question I have, and still haven’t heard anything. The email contact form on their site doesn’t work, either.
We’re in the same boat. We have been calling to schedule our flight but even though we’ve left numerous messages, no one gets back to us to schedule. Does someone have a time that they have had someone answer the phone?
My wife and I just went on our balloon ride thus morning and it was great! They now depart from the Monte de Oro Winery and there were 2 balloons each holding 8 passengers and 1 pilot. I definitely recommend flying with Sunrise.
Great deal, however they are a tab bit disorganized. I had to call to confirm the meet time and where to depart. If you book a room with them, confirm how the room will be paid for. Otherwise a once in a lifetime experience.

We’ve tried booking with our Groupons twice now and have been cancelled on both occasions. I’d have to say that for those people that actually got to ride on the balloon — they must be super lucky… or be paying full price… (please read on about why I think Groupon customers are getting the shaft). In any case, the two cancelled reservations have cost us about $400 in lodging fees, since we’re coming from out of the town.
Despite the photographer Megan trying to convince me that they REALLY DO HAVE GOOD SERVICE, I would beg to differ. Both times I’ve tried to book a reservation with Sunrise Balloons, it’s nearly impossible to get someone on the phone, or get an e-mail back with a confirmation until I’ve left multiple messages on the phone. The first time we actually got to speak to Megan on the phone, she was happy to accommodate us with the date we wanted UNTIL I stated that we were using Groupons, at which point in time she all of a sudden decided to tell me that they can’t take us on that day after all because there were two other “overweight customers” and we would not all be able to fit. At that time I was in a hurry to get off the phone so I said I’d call back later. Again later, I had requested the same date, which she initially said was available, but AGAIN when I said we had Groupons, she came up with the excuse that there were overweight people onboard and couldn’t accommodate us. How is this information left out in the first place and why is it that when “Groupons” are mentioned, all of a sudden, the balloon becomes too full?
Finally, we decided on a different date for two months later (in August). We were instructed to arrive by 5am, and drove half an hour from our hotel to Temecula. No joke — five minutes before we arrived, we received a call saying that it was too foggy and visibility would be poor, so the flight was cancelled. We were told that we can still go and get a donut and some coffee, so we did. When we arrived, we saw a few other people waiting there while they ate their donut and juice. We then returned to our hotel and a few hours later, the fog had cleared up into a clear, sunny day. I’ve read on other Yelp reviews that on foggy days, patrons were given the option to wait it out and go up a few hours later. Why was this option not given to us since it cleared up by 9am?
This time around, the weather forecast said there would be rain from 6pm-12am the night before our balloon ride, and then it would clear up by morning. However, we received a call around 9pm the night before saying it was cancelled. I brought up how it would be cleared up by morning, and Megan said something about how “precisely, clearing up = windy conditions.” I didn’t argue further because I figured they know best. However, I also read on another Yelp review that on a similar occasion, the patrons were bussed 20 miles away to Hemet where the balloon ride could still take place. So I ask again, WHY WAS THIS NOT OFFERED TO US???
My theory is that people paying full price for their “special packages” will be pampered. If you’re a Groupon customer and not paying full price, they can change things on a whim and not feel as bad about it. We definitely don’t get the special treatment that full-paying customers do. One cancelled flight might be reasonable, but TWO CANCELLED FLIGHTS with no offer to help out with lodging fees or a free flight in the future, a “good luck next time w/ a bottle of complimentary champagne” just doesn’t cut it.
