During an intro to Boga yoga and fitness class, instructor Erin Nealy covers the fundamentals of standup paddleboarding and water safety before leading students onto the lake. She then demonstrates basic yoga poses and fitness maneuvers, concentrating on proper form.
Customers who purchase class packages can attend introductory sessions as well as SUP Boga yoga and SUP Boga fitness classes. Erin leads themed yoga sequences or an eclectic mix of poses for SUP Boga yoga, which always culminates in a serene savasana, during which students lie flat on their backs and float atop the water. SUP Boga fitness includes drills on land and on the board for a workout that hones strength, balance, and agility. At certified instructor Erin Nealy's yoga studio, it's easy to fall through the floor. That's because her students practice on the ever-tranquil surface of Lake Mission Viejo. They stretch atop provided standup paddleboards, which add an engaging element of precariousness to the practice, strengthening core muscles during routines that demand steady balance. Though the workouts are challenging, the lake's verdant scenery and peaceful waters encourage a meditative state of mind.
A former competitive snowboarder and avid mountain climber, Erin found it only natural to combine her yoga expertise with her fondness for the outdoors. Her 75-minute classes range from introductory sessions to yoga sequences that include advanced poses, such as headstands on the board or even more challenging arm balances on the water. Her classes are always changing in structure to provide an intense muscle-molding workout. She also hosts paddleboard fitness courses, alternating between agility drills on the beach and board exercises on the lake.
