Cups provide containment for life-sustaining water, protect tender nether regions, and allow eavesdropping through walls. Combine these benefits with the scrumptiousness of cake with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of fluffy vegan cupcakes from Sweet Avenue Bake Shop in Rutherford.
Each day, Sweet Avenue Bake Shop’s chefs whip up dozens upon dozens of classic and gourmet egg-, dairy-, and cholesterol-free cupcake creations. The daily changing menu features at least 12 artistic creations at any given time. Classic cupped combinations, such as vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, are spruced up and named after hairstyles, including Dark Side of the Moon ($2.50). Special cupcakes, such as the coffee-liqueur-soaked tiramisu and the red berry-filled sangria ($3.50 each), conduct entire orchestras of flavors in odes to beautiful incisors.
Walking into the office with two dozen Sexy Sadies (red-velvet cupcakes with creamy frosting, $3 each) guarantees instant popularity and a promotion to chief volunteer fireman. Never mind that the cupcakes are vegan—out of 10 hungry mouths, nine described Sweet Avenue's sweet treats as delectable, drool-inducing, and impressively cruelty-free, and the tenth mumbled something through a cheekful of cupcake that sounded like "butter’s no hootenanny." Gluten-free cupcakes ($3.75 each) are also available on a daily basis.

- I have liked every cupcake I've had from here (probably about 12). They are all so creative, and the cake and icing are perfect. – Amanda R, Happy Cow
Groupon Says
Cake vs. Cupcakes
Cupcakes are slowly becoming even more popular than their larger cousin, the cake. What is causing this shift? Here’s a leaked copy of a memo from the Cupcake Baker’s Association entitled Dynamic Strategies for Increasing Cupcake Desirability vis-a-vis Public Attitudes Toward Full-Size Cakes:
For too long, cupcakes have been viewed as the smaller and, therefore, inferior version of cake. To increase cupcake consumption, we must change this perception. Here’s how:
- Cease using the term cake to refer to regular-sized cakes. Begin calling cake: Multi-Portioned Overflowed Cupcake Accident Mistake Scary.
- Call cake’s patriotism into question, e.g.: Why are so many cakes decorated with American flags? Because cakes are hiding something? Remember, cupcakes are distinctly American because Susan B. Anthony invented them.
- Is there a link between cake and rising childhood swearword usage? This is a fair question.
- Cakes, due to their overly large size, are possible hiding spots for drug lords looking to avoid prosecution. Cupcakes will not harbor criminals.
