Every program is different and the needs of a family are different. It really depends on what program the child is enrolled in, the commitment to the program, and the commitment to the schedule. Also, what kind of goals set for the student, by the family and by Sylvan. Results can be measured in growth of a grade level, boost in confidence, or simply a jump in points on an SAT test. An example would be, in our Academic Reading program, a child can grow one full grade level after 36 hours of instruction. Hope this helps!

Do all six tutoring sessions have to be completed by the Nov. 1 expiration date or can they just be started by that date? Also, can the groupon be used for ACT prep at the Homewood location?

The groupon just needs to be redeemed by that date. The groupon can be applied to ACT, however please call the Homewood center to see if it is an option at that location.

How are classes structured if I am only interested in live group, not on-line. How many kids are in a class, are their set class times, or are these individual meetings? Are classes offered during daytime?

Kevin---In center sessions are set up with one teacher to three children, but each student has an individualized program. Each center has a schedule set for class times. most times the classes are set up from 3:00-7:00 or 8:00 at night. Generally, it is best to set your own schedule so you may come in from 3:00-5:00 Tuesday and Thursdays, for example. Most centers offer classes during the day when summertime comes, but please call your local center to get specific details. Hope this helps!

What determines if it is online or in person? How frequent can the sessions be scheduled...weekly, 2x weekly etc...? Is it one on one or group? Thank You!

Sylvan offers our math and reading program online or in person at your local center. Sessions can be scheduled based on your needs and the centers available classes. Your schedule can be once, twice or more a week, it is up to you! Our programs are individualized based on aa 3:1 ratio. You are welcome!

How long is each tutoring session? How long is the skill assessment? Can you mix the subjects? Or do you pick one focus ( reading, math, writing) and stick with that?

Each session is 60 minutes. The skills assessments can range in amount of time, as they are all different. We do keep in mind age of student and day they are taking the assessment. For the six hours as part of the groupon, we would suggest one subject.

Sujatha, can you please clarify coaching? Do you mean being a coach to ACT and SAT students? If so, we do not offer coaching prep, only the SAT and ACT course for students.
