Choose Between Two Options

  • $17 for six tacos and two zocalo margaritas for a minimum of two or more people (up to a $40 value)
  • $32 for 12 tacos and four zocalo margaritas for a minimum of three or more people (up to an $80 value)

The 12-taco option provides enough food and drinks for a party of four, but is also valid for a party of three.

The menu features 10 varieties of tacos, such as lomo, also known as grilled ribeye, beer-battered tilapia, and cochinita—a Yucatan-style pulled pork topped with pickled red onions and a spicy habanero salsa. The River North location also serves tlayuda, an Oaxacan-style flatbread.

Taco Joint

It’s helmed by the same restaurateurs behind the perpetually praised Zocalo, but Taco Joint is an enterprise all in its own. This trendy River North spot focuses entirely on Mexican street food, with tacos, tortas, and antojitos—or Mexican snacks—populating the simplistic menu. Yet, there’s nothing simple about preparing these feasts. Chefs complement their taco creations with homemade salsas and hand-made tortillas. Creamy tomatillo crowns tacos rajas overstuffed with poblano peppers and onions, and a spicy habanero salsa completes the pulled-pork cochinita taco that Time Out Chicago says, “Knows almost no limits in flavor.”

Pat Bruno of the Chicago Sun-Times, meanwhile, fell for the tortas, a Mexican-style sandwich that Taco Joint packs with shredded chicken, homemade chorizo, or marinated grilled tri-tip. Open until midnight or 2 a.m. most nights, the joint supplies goodies to late-night bar-hoppers, including Mexican beers, fresh-mulled margaritas made from more than 50 types of tequila, and even boasts a walk-up window for those who don’t want to leave their horse unattended.

The Groupon Guide to: Where Babies Come From

Having “the talk” with your child can be awkward—especially if your child is still too young to understand the nuances of human reproduction or, worse, is a giggler. Postpone the difficult conversation a few more months with one of these classic explanations about where babies come from:

  • Babies are dropped down the chimney by storks who swoop down and steal them from other families.
  • Babies are hatched from the cabbage patch, so if you think about it, eating vegetables is essentially cannibalism.
  • Babies are assembled at the hospital and wrapped tightly in a blanket until all the glue is dry.
  • When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much, their psychic harmonics produce an cytoplasmic egg that must be kept in a dark closet for nine months.
  • Babies are an invention of the celebrity-obsessed media to sell magazine covers of pregnant starlets.

Is it time to tell your kids the truth about where babies come from? Learn how with today's Groupon Guide.
