Today, Great Lakes Schooner Company has restored the German-built schooner to its maiden-voyage splendour. En route, deckhands invite passengers to help raise and lower the sails or spin the helm, after which they set off the cannon to mark the end of each tour and the start of every circus-clown battle reenacment. Though Great Lakes Schooner Company has preserved the boat's 1930s charm, it has also retrofitted the Kajama for its daily tours with such amenities as a licensed bar and galley where cooks bring selections from their menu to life with fresh fare.
