Tatuyo Tapas N Tequila Lounge

Though the servers at Tatuyo Tapas N Tequila Lounge deliver tapas and Latin-infused breakfasts in a self-professed "fast casual setting," the atmosphere is anything but ordinary. Vibrant paintings line the wall inside the narrow dining room as diners share small plates of ceviche, nachos, chicken flautas, and yucca fries topped with the house's spiced salt. Regular art and salsa-dancing events are often fueled by tequila, which can be found mixed in one of eight margaritas or served naked in seven different flight combinations, including the trio of Jose Cuervo Platino, Gran Patrón, and Don Julio 1942. During early daylight hours, breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros refuel diners after late nights of walking their pet raccoons.

El Gusano

As the sister restaurant of San Francisco's ever-popular Tropisueño, El Gusano pairs its sibling's devotion to traditional Mexican recipes with the same upscale charm as its posh Old Oakland surrounding. By day, the restaurant acts as a taqueria, dispensing tacos, burritos, and pambazos to hungry lunchtime crowds. Like someone who's been bitten by a werewolf maitre d', though, El Gusano morphs into a full-service restaurant every evening, casting warm, inviting light on tables filled with dishes such as their signature mole poblano. Nighttime is also the domain of the restaurant's bartenders, who shake up hand-crafted margaritas and specialty drinks from their extensive of tequilas and mezcals.
