Tea was discovered in ancient China when a leaf blew in the window and landed in the emperor's bath, which he was slurping through a straw. Sip leaves steeped more decorously with this Groupon.

  • $39 for a choice of four tea discovery workshops (an $80 value)

During 1.5- to 2-hour workshops, groups of up to 10 students explore topics such as the nuances of green tea, how to brew the optimal cup, and how to create chai and latte tea drinks. See the scheduled class listings here.

Each class includes a tea gift to take home.

Tea-For-All

Within Paint the Roses Tea House and Cafe, Tea-For-All approaches the ancient drink with a holistic and welcoming attitude. Staffers lead an array of tea classes, from exploratory history classes to specialized sessions on how to brew the best cup, understand the complex varietals of oolong, and custom blend tea during workshops. Tea-For-All also commissions unique blends from specialty tea-makers, and creates blends of its own, such as Tropical Mist green sencha tea and Cold Comfort with chamomile, peppermint, licorice, and lemon. They also make a variety called Labyrinth, a soothing blend of green tea and herbs that make it possible for you to get out of any maze without a lawn mower.

In a Nutshell

Classes of 10 students or fewer learn the histories and preparation methods of an array of teas during two or four sessions
