Questions and Answers

Is this certification enough to be able to teach at American community colleges or private schools? I understand that public schools likely would not accept this (per the questions above).

Though it depends on the employer, it should be.

My concern is that your Groupon does not include a disclaimer that states certain states require a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in addition to a ESOL certification in order to legally be able to teach ESL classes (e.g., Texas requires a degree in education before you can become certified to teach ESL).

There are many places around the world that would not require you to have a College Degree...this certificate would be sufficient there.

Gustavo C. answered 3 months, 22 days, 12 hours, and 7 minutes ago

This certificate would not be sufficient in Texas or several other states. It's probably sufficient largely outside the U.S. Hopefully, people will research the laws in the state where they live before buying this.

If you want to teach in a public school in Canada or the US, a certification course such as theirs would not be sufficient because the school board may require you have a TESOL diploma instead, which takes 2-3 years to complete. If however you are interested in working in a private school or any school abroad, their course will be more than sufficient to give you the qualifications you need to get the job.

Is this an accredited Online Tesol Certification?

We are recognized by the English Language Teachers Society of Canada (http://elts.ca/schools/) and The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (http://caslt.org/members/members-structure-institutional-current_en.php), are Institutional members of IATEFL (http://www.iatefl.org/ Membership# 23323) and are on the list of applicant members for accreditation at ACTDEC (http://www.actdec.org.uk/members.shtml)

Does the TESOL certification ever expire? Once you receive certification, do you have to renew it every few years or take additional courses?

Alexandra K. asked 3 months, 24 days, 5 hours, and 4 minutes ago - 1 answer

Gustavo C.

The certification is valid indefinitely. There are no extra courses, exams or costs associated with being certified; the deal price includes everything you need.

Do I need to have a teacher's certificate or degree to be able to teach English as a second language?

Diana P. asked 3 months, 24 days, 11 hours, and 27 minutes ago - 1 answer

Gustavo C.

The only admission requirement is a certain level of English proficiency which by the look of your email, you have already demonstrated you possess. You can purchase without worry.

Gustavo C. answered 3 months, 23 days, 14 hours, and 29 minutes ago

Hi! Three questions: 1. Do I need to know any other language than English? 2. Do all 150 hours of the course need to be completed within 6 months after purchase? Or do I simply have to activate/start the course within 6 months after purchase? 3. If I simply have to activate the course within 6 months after purchase, is there a set time limit to complete the course?

Alexandra K. asked 3 months, 24 days, 15 hours, and 59 minutes ago - 1 answer

Gustavo C.

You do not need to be fluent in any other language(s). You can start the course whenever you want but you have 12 months from the date of activation to complete it. The course is 100% online (no need to leave the comfort of your home) and entirely self-directed meaning it is to be done at you own pace and on your own time. There are no extra courses, exams or costs associated with being certified; the deal price includes everything you need.

Is there some sort of listing or verification that people who have enrolled through this company have gotten jobs in other countries? I'm having trouble finding reviews for this company. Just trying to make sure I'm getting my moneys worth. Thanks!

Kristen F. asked 3 months, 24 days, 17 hours, and 34 minutes ago - 1 answer

The reason you might not be able to find reviews is because Google buries us under the keyword: Tesol reviews instead of Tesols reviews. Try this, Google "Tesols" reviews and you should find something.
