Classes are most Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Texan Defender's experienced shooting instructor Dan Hullum teaches small groups the basics of gun handling with a schedule of beginner pistol classes on the facility's private outdoor range. Prior to firing, students meet with Hullum in the classroom to brush up on safety tips, pistol basics, and John Wayne quotes. Next, students haul a rental weapon, ammo, ear protection, and newly acquired knowledge into the firing range in hopes of making bull's-eyes blink. If desired, students may bring a personal gun from home.
Hands-on instruction takes place at a covered, outdoor shooting range equipped with targets and various shooting stations. The range also has a seating area.
Customers often bring their own firearms and ammunition to Texan Defender's classes. If necessary, the range can supply ammunition and loaner guns.
