Strength, the workhorse of physical existence, is an ethereal substance found only in classical sculptures, cyborg technology, and the verbal inspirations whispered by boot-camp gurus. Today’s Groupon unlocks the classical and futuristic whispers: for $40, you get four weeks of unlimited fitness classes from Texas Boot Camp (up to a $180 value for new clients, $90 for existing). Today's deal is valid at four locations in the Forth Worth–area, with morning and evening sessions. See the sidebar for a list of locations and times.

In Texas Boot Camp, the enemy is predictability. Three days a week, your instructors will throw down a fresh guerilla-ambush worth of challenges for your muscles and your brain, fueling constant gains and keeping you engaged. Over the course of the session, you'll run, jump, lift weights, slam out push-ups and chin-ups, chase chickens, punch slabs of beef, and end with a live-crocodile wrestle. In the heat of your workout, you'll sweat out weakness, fear, and monosodium glutamate while beginning to gain the functional, unsurpassed strength of a body in fluid, powerful motion.

Texas Boot Camp classes are designed for people of all fitness levels and goals. The friendly instructors will break down the moves and make sure you complete each exercise for optimal safety and effectiveness. Working out with others motivates you to increase your effort level, ultimately decreasing your belt-loop level while smashing any loathing for fitness through a brick wall. Be sure to bring an exercise mat or towel, 5 lb. weights, plenty of cold water, and a watch or heart-rate monitor.

You must be 18 years or older for Texas Boot Camp.

Impressive Fitness The Jungle

When Ed Norice left the United States Navy in search of a new career, he found fresh enemies to battle domestically: obesity and heart disease. He started Impressive Fitness The Jungle to combat these illnesses and give his fellow citizens a path towards healthy lifestyles.

Norice and his two instructors, Aubree and Rodney, draw from a vast repertoire of exercise styles to wage their war. TRX resistance bands force the muscles of the body to work in concert and strengthen the body from head to toe. Martial-arts skills lend a practical edge to every workout, increasing endurance and arming students with basic self-defense techniques. Outside of group classes, the trio offers personal training and nutritional consultation to help prevent clients from making unhealthy choices in their diet, such as eating a whole birthday cake and then eating the cake’s candles.
