$89 for a Hang-Gliding or Paragliding Lesson ($185 Value)

Groupon holders may choose either a beginner lesson or introductory tandem lesson on Point of the Mountain's south side. Click here for specific directions to the meeting point.

During the beginner lesson, fliers will receive basic takeoff, landing, ground handling, and glider-assembly instruction before they take to the skies for a low-altitude solo trip under radio supervision. In the introductory tandem lesson, students will strap into a hang glider or paraglider with a certified instructor as they soar to higher heights around Point of the Mountain's south side. Lessons include a one-day club membership to the Utah Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association and a 30-day student membership to the US Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association.

Birdman Academy

Birdman Academy takes its name from the pseudonym of its founder, Kevin Koonce. The Birdman estimates that he has trained thousands of hang-gliding lessons, and during that time he’s taught nearly 8,000 first-timers. Currently, he nests at Point of the Mountain, a spot known for what the Academy calls, "legendary conditions." This means consistently smooth winds, which are ideal for training new hang-gliders, paragliders, and baby pterodactyls recently thawed from blocks of prehistoric ice.
