  • $27 for three Body Barre classes (a $57 value)

Dance-inspired Body Barre classes tone and tighten the entire body with repetitions of small, controlled movements. Many exercises incorporate a ballet barre and focus on the legs and glutes. During Burlesque and Bubbly happy hours, participants mingle as they sip champagne, and then learn a routine of sultry shimmies and chair-based moves. See the schedule.

The Body Barre

The Body Barre's founders, dancer Nadia Walker-Arnold and exercise instructor Jen Rehm, believe that working out doesn't have to be a chore. They strive to make their classes quite the opposite, in fact, with a lineup of dance-inspired sessions ranging from the high-intensity Body Barre to the flirty burlesque. The all-female staff—made up of experienced ballet dancers, certified personal trainers, and a professional burlesque dancer—encourage ladies of all sizes and experience levels to carve long, lean muscles with a blend of ballet, yoga, and boot-camp basics.

Though inspired by dance, most classes trade choreography for the exercises ballerinas use to shape and strengthen their bodies, pairing cardio intervals and strength training with stretches and barre-based isometric exercises. During the signature Body Barre workout, they lead gals in executing small, controlled movements that sculpt the entire body to fend off attacks from feral nutcrackers. To help moms incorporate exercise into their schedules, the studio offers childcare for kids aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. In addition to their heart-rate-elevating fitness classes, they also host private classes and happy hours, in which ladies sip champagne and learn to speed up onlookers' tickers with smoldering burlesque and chair-dancing routines.

The Groupon Guide to: Body Language

Thanks to body language, you don't have to hear someone's hot, breathy voice in order to learn how they're feeling. Know what's on everyone's mind just by looking at them with this guide to nonverbal communication:

Position: Head hanging down
Meaning: Shame about having lost a basketball game or never having learned to properly diaper a baby

Position: Arms crossed
Meaning: Self-conscious about something that looks like nozzles on otherwise normal chest

Position: Chin up
Meaning: Humiliated to look down at the hands that have touched so many strangers' hair

Position: Legs crossed
Meaning: Desperately trying to control the powerful leg muscles that so desperately want to kick down a door, just once, to see how it feels

Position: Balled up, quivering, screaming at the slightest hint of noise or light
Meaning: In a fit of joyful awe at all of the wonderful things the world has to offer

How many adults will never learn to properly diaper a baby?
