The Derby Rose Gala fills Louisville's The Gillespie—built as a bank in 1929 and today hosting events with its Art Deco splendor still intact—on Friday, May 3, from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. In two sets throughout the night, Kirby's Dreamland unleashes crowd-pleasing renditions of music ranging from Van Morrison to Sublime. The live hits are interspersed with sets by old-school turntable artist DJ Q and house specialist DJ Buck Rodgers, who will keep the party dancing into the wee hours. A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit FEAT of Louisville, an organization that supports programs for autism treatment.

The Derby Rose Gala

On the eve of the Kentucky Derby, celebrants dressed in cocktail attire convene to honor derby tradition in an atmosphere of comfortable elegance. Sequestered away from the crowds of horses milling in the streets outside, guests spend the evening snacking, socializing, and dancing to bands and DJ beats.
