- $30 for The Dirty Dash 5K registration for one ($60 value)
Runners launch in waves starting at 8 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah within the Howard Buford Recreation Area on Saturday, June 28, careening through The Dirty Dash's mud-drenched pipes and pits. Racers aged 14 and older can join in the splashing and slipping, and runners younger than 14 may participate with an adult's supervision and signed waiver. At 2 p.m., 80 minutes after the final adult wave, guardians can pay $20 for kids aged 2–12 to take on the mud-spattered, 1-mile Piglet Plunge. Friends and family members can spectate for free and purchase water balloons for some cleansing lobs midrace. Info about picking up Race Day Info Packets will be posted two weeks prior to the race.
The Dirty Dash
Eschewing traditional race rules and methods, Dirty Dashers must overcome a slew of mud-slicked obstacles, including mucky climbing hills, crawling pipes, slip 'n slides, and bear hugs from Pigpen. Organizers encourage runners to sign up with friends to foster a fun-loving environment, and along the way, racers fuel up at optional beer- or root-beer-chugging stations. Further demonstrating its commitment to outdoor high jinks, each event's registration fees, donations, water-balloon sales, and shoe donations benefit local charities, such as NM[X]—an arts and athletics youth organization—and the Seattle-based Redeeming Soles charity, which dispenses gently used footwear to those in need.
